Solar garden light with a warm LED lantern head on a spike mount

A solar garden light is a complete, self-contained fixture: LED head, solar panel, battery and control electronics all built into one pole or lantern that spikes straight into the ground. There is no trench to dig and no wire to run back to a switchboard, so it goes in almost anywhere the sun reaches for a few hours a day.

Once installed, it runs itself. The panel charges through the day, and a built-in light sensor switches the LED on automatically at dusk and off at dawn, night after night, with no timer to set and nothing to remember. Because there is no electricity connection involved, there is no running cost either: the only ongoing expense is the occasional clean of the panel.

We fit these across homes, farmhouses, resorts, campuses, temple grounds and housing society common areas in and around Madhya Pradesh, and we build them weather-sealed for the Madhya Pradesh monsoon, so a season of hard rain does not mean a season of dead lights. Positioning is the part that actually needs judgement: spacing, aim and mounting all affect how even the light looks, so we survey the layout before we fit anything.

Frequently asked questions

Do solar garden lights work in the monsoon?

Yes, provided they are rated for it. We fit units with a sealed, weather-resistant housing built for Madhya Pradesh’s rainy season, so a few consecutive overcast days will not stop them working, though a very long stretch without sun will draw the battery down faster than usual.

How long does the light stay on after dark?

Typically 8 to 12 hours on a full day’s charge, enough to cover a full night through most of the year. Exact autonomy depends on the specific unit and how much direct sun the panel gets.

Do I need an electrician to install these?

No. Because there is no wiring involved, most garden lights simply spike into the ground or bolt onto a base plate. We still recommend a quick site visit so positioning and spacing are right before anything goes in.

Can they be used on a boundary wall or fence instead of the ground?

Yes. Pole and bracket-mount versions are available for walls, fences and railings, alongside the standard ground-spike design.

What is the difference between warm and cool light options?

Warm white gives a softer, more traditional garden feel, while cool white throws a brighter, whiter light that is easier to see by on paths and steps. It is a preference call: both use the same battery and panel.
